For an unhoused individual, a pet is often a lifeline — the one companion that has never left. It is common to see someone feed their animal before they feed themselves. That love is real, and it deserves to be honored rather than judged.
Pups and Prayers addresses the practical needs of pets belonging to those who are unhoused or at risk of becoming unhoused — food, water, and basic supplies — while offering spiritual care to their owners. Sometimes that care is as simple as laying a hand on an animal and praying over it. More times than I can count, that prayer has been the first one that person allowed anyone to pray with them.
